Choice Advice Service
What is the Choice Advice Service?
The Choice Advice Service is for families who are applying for a secondary school place for their child.
The Choice Adviser will offer you impartial advice, support and information. We cannot make decisions for you or guarantee you a place at a particular school. What we can do is provide you with the information you need to make an informed and realistic decision when deciding on a school for your child.
Choosing a school for your child can be a stressful time for you and your family so preparing yourself early for the transfer, will give you that extra time to think over all you options and prepare yourself for the change.
What can the Choice Advice Service offer?
A choice adviser will aim to make sure you have a full understanding of all the information available and that it is presented clearly to you.
We will;
- Listen to your questions and concerns
- Provide you with information about the schools in your area including school uniform information, transport, important school dates, after school activities etc
- Explain the admissions policies for the different types of schools
- Arrange school visits
- Help you fill in the necessary forms
- Explain what will happen when you have made your decision
- Explain what your options will be if you do not get the school you want
- Provide advice and support if you decide to appeal for a school place, however the Choice Adviser cannot attend the appeal
How can I contact the Choice Advice Service?
You can arrange to meet the Choice Adviser at your home, school, or local community centre. We also offer advice over the telephone, or you can email us with your questions.
